Our robotics team held another one of our lock-ins! It was a lot of fun as usual, even though it was not as organized as we would have liked. Don’t get me wrong, there was something for everyone to enjoy. We had NERF wars, video games, ultimate Frisbee, a scavenger hunt, and food!
Everyone enjoys the NERF wars that always happen at our lock-ins! There are different ways to play: as an individual, on a team, or my personal favorite, zombies! The funniest moment when playing the zombie version was some students in a different room were playing a game that involved zombies. As soon as one of the mentors started turning off the lights, they quickly changed to a different video game.
Speaking of video games, a lot of people were playing Minecraft, Smite, and others. We had another game set up, but nobody played it that night. It was Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes which is a bomb defusing game. However, in the morning, two girls played it and they said it was a lot of fun. We will have to show how exciting the game really is next time!
Physical games were fun too! Everyone joined in, even the people who were playing video games. We thought we wouldn’t be able to get the computer gamers away from their screens, but they surprised us all and came to the gym for a few rounds of ultimate frisbee. They even joined the scavenger hunt which had a tasty cupcake surprise at the end. We all became a sweaty mess, but it sure was enjoyable and amusing.
Overall, the lock-in was a lot of fun and we have ideas about what we should organize better for the next one. So many exciting moments happened! There will always be those lasting memories from events like our robotics lock-ins. Everyone will have something to smile about or maybe an embarrassing moment to roll our eyes at. Anyway, the lock-ins will continue to bring joy for our robotics members and the new recruits we bring in. This tradition makes our team bonds grow stronger!
